Hello! I’m Stefi and I’m from the beautiful island of Sardinia in Italy. I was actually born in Turin but my parents moved to Sardinia when I was three years old. Growing up there was amazing but after I finished high school, I decided to follow my dream and move to London to improve my English and experience life in the capital! I’ve always been fascinated by London, perhaps because I used to see it on the Italian news as a child and English was one of my favourite subjects at school. My passion for languages and learning about different cultures led me to travel, visiting and exploring many places including Barcelona, Lille and French Guiana, until I finally settled in the UK about fifteen years ago. From Sardinia to the UK—from one island to another—both places with a very special place in my heart.
I met my British husband Gary at a Sardinian wedding (it’s a small world indeed!) and we now live in Kent, the Garden of England. We have a lovely garden with fruit trees, flowers, herbs and we also grow some of our own vegetables. I’m a foodie and enjoy using herbs and veg from our garden to cook simple and tasty dishes that remind me of Italy and my family. But I like experimenting too! I’m lactose intolerant and this has led me to develop an interest in nutrition to find alternatives in my diet. When I’m not working in a language classroom, translating a project or cooking, I enjoy spending time digging in the garden, doing yoga, getting out on my bike, being out in nature and having a healthy diet and lifestyle in general.
Writing a blog has been a dream of mine for quite some time. I’ve now finally decided to take the plunge, thanks to a little inspiration from my garden in Kent too! There’s a little lemon tree in our garden, which inspired me (thanks to a suggestion from my hubby) to call my blog “lemon blossom”. It flowers several times during the year and its blossom smells absolutely incredible! It puts a big smile on my face every time I see a blossom opening. I can’t wait to smell it! This tree was given to us by a dear friend just before we got married and, apart from reminding me of Italy, for me it represents friendship and love. It is about as “old” as our marriage and, like marriage, it needs love and care.
And so, in my bilingual blog I’m hoping to bring a little bit of joy, laughter and fun by sharing some snippets of life in my garden and kitchen. So you can expect to find some recipes, but also articles and more about nutrition, well-being and women’s health.
I hope you’ll enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it!
Take care and speak soon,
Stefi
