Luxopuncture

Luxopuncture

I couple of years ago, I read about luxopuncture for the first time in a well-being magazine and I was intrigued. Soon after, I decided to give it a try and found it really beneficial. So last year, during lockdown, I came up with the idea of interviewing my luxopuncture therapist as I wanted to speak about this therapy in my blog and share the great benefits that it can bring. So I got in touch with her and she kindly accepted to be interviewed online. Her name is Anne Claydon and she runs the Luxopuncture Clinic, in Colchester.

Read our interview below!

Interview with Anne Claydon (Part 1)

Stefania Puddu (SP): Hi Anne and thank you for being with us today.

Anne Claydon (AC): Thank you for having me.

SP: The first question I’d like to ask you is: What is luxopuncture?

AC: Luxopuncture is a natural therapy based on the principle of acupuncture and auricular therapy, which is the ear acupuncture, and its overall objective is to re-balance the body’s functions.

SP: What is the difference between acupuncture and luxopuncture?

AC: Like in acupuncture, we stimulate pressure points but in luxopuncture we use an infrared beam instead of needles. So it’s a very relaxing process and it’s pain free. Let me show you.

This is a pen with the infrared beam that stimulates the pressure points.

SP: And now I have a question for you Anne, to satisfy my curiosity. I heard that luxopuncture is extremely popular in France but relatively new in the UK. Is this correct? Is this true?

AC: I opened the first Luxopuncture Clinic in Colchester in 2018 but it is a therapy that has been used in France for over 20 years. And it has gained great popularity. I believe there’s more than 5,000 practitioners like myself in France. You don’t have to travel far to find a therapist at all.

SP: What are the benefits of luxopuncture and who would you recommend luxopuncture to, Anne?

AC: It is aimed at people, women and men, who want to lose weight, who want to deal with some stress and  anxiety issue, and who want to stop smoking. And also it is aimed at women with perimenopausal symptoms.

SP: And now, let’s talk about your clients. Who are they? And also, how long does it take before they can start seeing any results?

AC: I see a lot of women between the age of 30 and 65.

Like in acupuncture, you need to have a course of treatment to see some results. For menopause and relaxation, I do seven sessions over a period of six weeks. People react very differently. Some people would react just after a few sessions and it will take much longer for some to see some results.

For weight loss, it depends on the weight you got to lose and your motivation.
